• a driver is allegedly under the influence of intoxicating liquor or a drug.

If the vehicle accident is your fault, the claim needs to be registered with your insurance company. They will then arrange for an insurance assessor to inspect your damage in order to authorise for the repairs to go ahead.

If the vehicle accident was not your fault. The damage repairs to your vehicle is the responsibility of the other driver. Getting the details of the other driver, or drivers, is important when it comes to making a claim if you’re insured. You’ll need to get the other drivers:

• name
• address
• phone number
• registration number, and
• insurance details

If the other driver refuses to share these details with you and they were at fault, take note of their registration number, as you can make a report with the police if needed.
